To get 100mg of Elemental Magnesium, we have to pack the capsule with ~720mg of Magnesium Glycinate powder. That fills the capsule completely! To reach 200mg or 300mg of elemental magnesium in a single capsule, the capsule would need to be significantly larger than standard sizes, making it harder to swallow. We prefer to give you a standard-sized capsule that is easy to swallow.

If you see a single capsule claiming 400-500mg of elemental magnesium, one of two things is usually happening:

1. They are listing the weight of the powder, not the magnesium. (They might have 500mg of powder, but only ~70mg of actual magnesium).
2. They are using "Buffered" Magnesium. This is a common trick where brands mix a little bit of Glycinate with a lot of Magnesium Oxide. Oxide is a tiny molecule so you can pack a lot of it into a pill, but it is cheap and poorly absorbed.

Clepon is Non-Buffered. We refuse to cut our formula with Oxide just to inflate the numbers. We give you the pure chelate exactly as described.

We list both numbers for total transparency. Each capsule contains approximately 720mg of the full compound (Magnesium + Glycine). Because the compound yields about 14% elemental magnesium, this provides exactly 100mg of Elemental Magnesium (the active nutrient).

Because Magnesium Glycinate is bound to Glycine, an amino acid known for its calming properties, most customers prefer taking it in the evening or 1 hour before bed to support relaxation. However, it is gentle enough on the stomach to be taken in the morning or split throughout the day if that works better for your schedule.
